It was in the United States that a brilliant idea came to Paul Steklinski, once a man like any other. Indeed, to save animals, the man spent nearly 20,000 euros in two years, but does not regret his gesture which brings him much more than money. By buying a plane to save animals, Steklinski has never felt better in his life.
“We went to a pet store and then to a shelter, and we realized the difference,” Steklinski toldThe dodo, a news and animal rights website. This is how he discovered all the work and network of animal lovers who fight every day to save dogs abandoned in shelters. By adopting Tessa in August 2013, a small black Labrador, his life took a new turn and he found a new reason to live.
Since adopting his dog from a shelter, Steklinski has a new passion: saving animals. And he has found a completely unique, original and above all effective way of doing it: while others use their planes to go to restaurants or take trips, he has decided to use his property to save abandoned dogs .
In 2015, he founded an association called”Flying Fur Animal Rescue”, which flies from Pennsylvania, where it is based, to North Carolina in an effort to find abandoned animals. Steklinski climbs into his plane every day and sets out to rescue as many lost, endangered or abandoned animals as possible, and it seems he has found one of the most effective and efficient ways to do it.
Flying is the key to helping as many animals as possible in the shortest possible time. Indeed, a view from above allows for a much better field of vision on what is happening. While it takes him less than half a day to make the round trip, it is not uncommon for him to save 15 or 20 animals a day by picking them up on the street and taking them to shelters.
