Hillary Clinton: Kamala Harris Faces Challenges as an Underdog Due to the Electoral College

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently discussed Vice President Kamala Harris’s position in the presidential race, labeling her as an “underdog” largely due to the challenges posed by the Electoral College. In an interview with The 19th News, Clinton acknowledged that Harris’s campaign faces significant hurdles due to the intricacies of the Electoral College system.

“We are the underdog; that’s part of the challenge when the Electoral College is involved,” Clinton stated. “We all need to be prepared to take every necessary step to support her.”

Clinton, who has cited the Electoral College as a factor in her 2016 loss to Donald Trump, has previously called for its elimination, noting that despite winning the national popular vote, she lost the election due to Trump’s narrow victories in key battleground states.

During her address at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Clinton lauded Harris as a candidate with the “character, experience, and vision” necessary to lead the country forward. She praised Harris for her commitment to lowering costs for working families, expanding access to good-paying jobs, and restoring abortion rights.

Clinton expressed her determination to support Harris despite the opposition’s efforts to undermine her campaign. “The other side will do everything they can to prevent her from winning,” Clinton warned. “We must fight as hard as we can to overcome any obstacles.”

When asked by The 19th News about the public’s readiness for a female president, Clinton acknowledged the challenge of overcoming skepticism. “There’s no perfect woman, so the challenge is to make the case based on merits, address doubts, and mobilize voters,” she said. “If our people vote, we will win.”

At the DNC, Clinton also criticized former President Trump, emphasizing the need to stay focused on the truth and support Harris’s campaign. “We must fight for Kamala as she will fight for us,” Clinton declared. “It still takes a village to raise a family, heal a country, and win a campaign.”

Clinton revealed that she remains in regular contact with Harris, offering guidance and support. She described Harris’s candidacy as a “win-win” and praised her for earning the opportunity to lead.

Former President Bill Clinton also spoke at the DNC, highlighting Harris’s commitment to addressing national issues and ensuring that all Americans have the chance to pursue their dreams.
