Cole Palmer missed a penalty for the first time in the Premier League during the first half of Chelsea‘s clash with Leicester ion Sunday.
The Blues star had netted 12 out of 12 from the spot before the game at Stamford Bridge but was denied by Mads Hermansen midway through the first half.
The Englishman tried to put the ball bottom right but the Foxes stopper dived the right way to keep his effort out.
England international Palmer, who netted 27 goals and bagged 15 assists in a breakout campaign last season, has failed to score in his last eight games in all competitions and has missed a number of promising chances in recent matches.
‘When you score a goal you are more happy because your goals help the team to win. But overall Cole is fine. He’s happy,’ Maresca told reporters.
‘He knows he’s struggled to score goals in this moment but that it’s something normal that during the season can happen.
‘Watching him during the training session you don’t think it’s affecting him, he’s fantastic.’

The Englishman saw his effort saved by the Foxes stopper as the home side struggled
The home side needed a long-range thunderbolt from Marc Cucurella to earn a far from convincing 1-0 win over the Premier League’s second-bottom side Leicester at Stamford Bridge.
Cucurella cracked in a fine strike in the 60th minute after advancing from left-back to break Leicester’s resistance, but this was a result far more valuable to Enzo Maresca than was the nature of a turgid, ponderous display, in which there was too little movement and an alarming absence of creativity.
It moved Chelsea above Manchester City back into the top four, but there will be sterner tests in what remains of the race for the Champions League spots than the one provided by Ruud van Nistelrooy’s relegation-bound side.
