Caitlin Clark’s journey from the University of Iowa to the WNBA has been marked not only by her stellar performances on the court but also by the unwavering support of her biggest fan—fellow basketball player and Iowa alum Connor McCaffrey.
In August 2023, Clark made her relationship with McCaffrey Instagram official. McCaffrey, who graduated in the spring of 2023, has been carving out his own path in the basketball world. Following his graduation, he joined the Indiana Pacers as a team assistant, viewing the role as a stepping stone toward his ultimate goal of becoming a coach, much like his father. “It’s a way in,” McCaffrey told the Des Moines Register. “It’s an entry-level job. You’ve got to work hard and work your way up. That’s obviously what I want to do.”
McCaffrey, a four-star recruit during his time with the Iowa Hawkeyes, left a notable mark on the team, including earning the Academic Excellence Award. Despite his busy schedule, he has remained one of Clark’s most ardent supporters.
Clark, who led the Iowa Hawkeyes to a historic victory in the 2024 NCAA women’s basketball championship, was later selected as the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever. The couple’s celebration of her career milestone in New York City was a highlight for both, with Clark sharing a heartfelt Instagram Story in April 2024. She captioned the post with, “My fave person in the world,” underscoring the special place McCaffrey holds in her life.
As Clark embarks on her professional basketball career and McCaffrey pursues his coaching aspirations, their support for each other continues to shine through, both on and off the court.
